FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nov. 6, 2009 Statement from Kansas Adjutant General, Major General Tod Bunting, regarding Fort Hood Shootings"This is a difficult day for our nation, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone at Fort Hood affected by this terrible event. Gov. Parkinson has asked my department to provide whatever support possible to Fort Hood and we will do so. I'm certain many other organizations will be offering support as well. An incident that appears to involve a military member turning against his own is especially hard to understand." "We know there is stress related to deployments and the many challenges life can bring each of us. We recently developed a Resiliency Center training program in Kansas for service members nationwide to help them and families address the challenges and stresses they encounter. This and other Department of Defense programs, as well as our chaplains, are available to support service members and their families during this difficult time." -30- Follow the Kansas Adjutant General’s Department on Twitter at http://twitter.com/KSAdjutantGen |
